Colorado Springs isn’t cheap. How do I get a job that pays enough to live here?

Colorado Springs is not an entry level friendly city when it comes to cost of living. Most starting wages fall between $16 and $22 per hour in warehouse, manufacturing, administrative, medical office, customer service, and trades helper roles. That equals roughly $33,000 to $45,000 per year. It is enough to start, but not enough to coast.

At the same time, people choose to live here for a reason.

We have access to the mountains, strong military and aerospace presence, growing healthcare and manufacturing sectors, lower crime than many major metros, and no shortage of outdoor lifestyle opportunities. It is a city with economic stability and long term career potential. The trade off is that you have to build your way up.

Here is the reality. You have to work the jobs you NEED in order to earn the jobs you WANT.

We regularly interview candidates who left roles because they did not like the manager, expected promotions within six months, felt bored, believed the job was beneath them, or struggled with attendance.

Employers consistently reward the same qualities:

• Reliability and strong attendance
• Coachability
• Skill development
Longevity

Frequent job changes without growth reset your value. Staying long enough to build skill increases it.

Upward movement here typically looks like this:

• Warehouse to Lead to Supervisor
• Administrative Assistant to Office Manager to Operations
• Trades Helper to Apprentice to Licensed Technician
• Patient Access to Medical Office Specialist to Clinic Lead

You do not skip steps. You stack them.

Working with a staffing agency can also be a strategic advantage. Agencies have relationships with employers and can open doors that are difficult to access on your own. They understand which companies promote from within and which roles offer real growth. When you show up, perform well, and maintain good attendance, they can advocate for you, recommend you for stronger roles, and help you move forward faster.

If you are just starting out, with or without a degree, and unsure what direction to take, that is normal. The goal is not to land the perfect job immediately. The goal is to start building skill in a market that rewards consistency.

Colorado Springs offers opportunity, stability, and quality of life. We ARE the destination!
